Friday, June 8th      *Class-specific rehearsal times posted on DRESS REHEARSAL PAGE!

Saturday, June 9th at 6:30 pm
Sunday, June 10th at 2:00 pm

Todd Performing Arts Center at Chesapeake College

Check-in and Dismissal:

  • Student check-in will be conducted at the Registration Table located in the hall at the “Artist Entrance” which is located around the back of the Todd Performing Arts Center building.
  • Parents, family, and guests are not permitted in the backstage area (or auditorium during dress rehearsal) unless they are a Backstage Mom. It is imperative that everyone respects these boundaries for the management and safety of all the children.
  • Runners will escort each dancer to their dressing room and into the care of the Backstage Moms.
  • Upon arrival and check-in for the performances, you will be given a “Student Retrieval Card.”
  • To help ease the crowding issue, please have only the person with the “Student Retrieval Card” in the line to pick-up. All other family, friends, and guests can wait in the lobby.

Dress Rehearsal Format

  • Schedule of class-specific rehearsal times are posted online.
  • NOTE: Rehearsal times listed are the times the dancers will TAKE THE STAGE…this is their only 15-minutes of stage rehearsal! (For 3 – 5 Year Olds)
  • THIS IS A FULL DRESS REHEARSAL.Students must arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled rehearsal to allow time for dress, make-up. Students will need proper tights, shoes, hair and make-up, costumes, and costume accessories.
  • Students are NOT to come dressed in their costume – get dressed at the Todd Center – this is the responsibility of the parents not the Backstage Moms (bathrooms are available). Please do hair and make-up at home so that all you need to do is put on your costume when you arrive.
  • Students can bring water bottles ONLY– no juice, no soda, no snacks. Please do all of that before they arrive.
  • Everyone's hair (if long enough) MUST be in a ballet bun (tight and slicked back)!
  • Label all of your child's belongings and contain everything in a small, labeled tote bag.

 Recital Format:

  • Saturday –Students must check-in at the Registration Table no later than 5:30pm.
  • Sunday –Students must check-in at the Registration Table no later than 1:00pm.
  • Do hair and make-up at home so that all you need to do is put on your costume when you arrive.
  • Bring all LABELED belongings in a small suitcase or tote; Leave all jewelry/valuables at home.
  • Everyone's hair must be in a ballet bun (tight and slicked back)!
  • Bring a water bottle, labeled.
  • Students will be dismissed to the ONE PERSON who has the “Student Retrieval Card”. The 3 – 5 year olds will be dismissed during Intermission – everyone else at the end of each performance. (Please do not try to pick up your Star Performer any earlier – this creates too much havoc).

Backstage Moms:

  • To volunteer, see the sign-up binder in the Studio Office.
  • A meeting for all Backstage Moms will be held on Saturday, June 2nd  at 11:00 at the studio. We greatly appreciate these special helpers who stay with the students in the dressing rooms before, during, and after the rehearsal and performances.  They will assist the students in getting organized and ready to go on stage, as well as helping to "manage all the excitement" in the dressing rooms.

  • If acceptable by parents, students are to wear make-up for dress rehearsal, portraits, and performances. The stage lights wash out their little faces, so the make-up is to be applied HEAVILY for the performances.  Apply: eye shadow, blush, lipstick and mascara.
  • Join us for a free “How To Apply Stage Make-up” class with Ms. Meg on Saturday, June 2nd  at 12:00 at the studio.  This will be a demonstration class; no need to bring make-up products or the dancer to which you’ll be applying the make-up.

NO OTHER ACCESSORIES are permitted.  Children are NOT to have ANY of the following worn during the dress rehearsal, portraits and performances:

Earrings, Nose rings, Lip rings, Belly-button rings, or any other piercings*

*If you are considering having your child’s ears or anything else pierced, please note that ALL earrings, even starters, must be removed for this event.  So if you’re going to pierce, please remember the six-week healing time and plan accordingly, or wait until after the recital.

·    Wrist or ankle bracelets

  • Rings or Watches
  • Fingernail or toenail polish
  • Temporary tattoos

  • All alterations must be completed and the costume ready for dress rehearsal. ALL straps must be stitched in place to fit the student; they CANNOT be pinned or tied. PLEASE, do not allow costumes to be played with. If you have any questions about how to fit the costume, please ask the Dance Instructor or Miss Meg.
